Gwalior Division is one of the oldest affiliates of MPCA. Game of cricket has deep roots in this region. Gwalior happens to be the second venue where MPCA can host International matches. Capt. Roop Singh Stadium has hosted 12 One Day International games between 1988 to 2010. Ranji Trophy final of 1996-97 was played here under floodlights. Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) for the Scindia Cup is a franchise-based professional T20 cricket league. It is organized by Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under aegis of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). It is the state's only official franchisee-based cricket league as approved by MPCA & BCCI. The league shall feature top players of the state (across IPL and international). Inspired by the success of India Premier League (IPL) The league will have world class production quality and broadcast.
